I have a lovely friend who is responsible for this Fashion Blog coming to fruition. She is a sassy, lovely, human being, who often times has said; “I thought of you this morning as I was getting dressed! I asked myself; “What would Allison want me to wear!”
For those of you who find yourself in the same predicament, unable to figure out what to wear, I am here to help! For those of you who have that great piece hanging in your closet and it has been collecting dust for the past 6 years because you can’t quite figure out how to pull it all together!? I am here to help!
Send in your photo’s or questions pertaining to your fashion dilemma and I will have an answer for you. Think of me as that back page of Lucky Magazine that is no longer there. I will listen and find answers to your Fashion Babble.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Love the tunics at http://www.calmnyc.com. They come to just below my knee, so I wear with leggings and a heel. Pondering if I should shorten the tunic a wee bit?
I love the tunics on the calmnyc.com website. Great staple pieces for Summer. Your question regarding the length; Always go with your gut instinct in such matters, if you are pondering it, chances are it should be shortened. I am only 5’5″ inches tall so, length wise I need to wear things either above the knee, fitted just below the knee {i.e. pencil skirt} or flowy all the way to the floor. Anything a-line below the knee makes me look “stumpy & frumpy,” as I like to say. Know Your Size & Body Shape; This is the key ingredient for determining the right length or fit for anything, for that matter! Here is a link that you may find useful: http://www.greatestlook.com/advice/hemline.htm. Thank you for your question & I am glad I could help!
Hey Allison!
Something fashion related has been on my mind and I thought who better to ask than you! So I have been buying lingerie from Victoria’s Secret for maybe 6 months now. They have those darn coupons in the mail where you get a free pair of underwear if you purchase here and there…So I do. I have a credit card with them as well to rack up points. Problem is I’m not REALLY crazy about their stuff. It’s pretty boring in fact, especially when I found Italy’s version of VS was Intimissimi which is all really beautiful and sexy.
Anyway, I’m also being convicted these days of changing my wardrobe to be a little more eco friendly. Primarily I want to be sure it’s fair trade and if it is organic that would be great too. Do you know of any lingerie companies that would satisfy my criteria without being crazy expensive? I’ll definitely shop online, so it doesn’t need to be carried in a store near me.
Thanks so much! Have a great day!
~Ariana
Let me give this a little thought and get back to you with some answers! Thank you so much for posting on “Fashion Babble!”
OK My Dear :: This is what I came up with, I knew which direction to turn to get the answer we needed. I hit up Sarah at Lille Boutique, here in Portland :: http://www.lilleboutique.com/ They have amazing lingerie. This is the information that she passed on to me ::
Almost all of our lines are made in the USA of natural fibers. Exceptions include Stella McCartney, Elle Macpherson, Philip Lim, Wolford, and a few other big name brands. I would recommend Araks, Dessous, The Lake and Stars, Erica Tanov, Unforeseen Circumstances, Malia Mills, 180 by Jean Yu, Brulee, Kiki de Montparnasse, Matters of Leisure, Look from London and most of the Only Hearts collection (a few of their pieces are made in China, but most are made in New York.) Most of the brands we import (i.e. Carine Gilson, Aloe Loungewear, Stephanie Loungewear, Stola, etc.) are made in their country of origin in the same ethical/mindful manner as our American brands, but it just depends on how she feels about the cost of importing (gas, taxes, etc.) since everyone has a different level of comfort or definition of sustainability. I know that we are the only store in Portland focusing on lingerie made this way, and maybe one of the few in the country. We would be happy to answer specific questions on any of the brands we carry to help her navigate the wide world of options!
Of course! I am sure there are more tidbits about this on lifeinlingerie.com, as it was one of the founding principles of the shop….We also created a collection for the blog awakenedaesthetic.com that is all about sustainability: http://www.lilleboutique.com/collections/awakened-aesthetic
So, Arianna, Let’s start with the local option and when I have a bit more time, I will research options on line.
Hope this helps and if you are in need of anything else, please feel free to contact me.
I am starting a blog post every Wednesday for my female readers, perhaps this should be one of the topics??
Kindly:
Allison Jones xo
Thank you so much! Much better and classier than I see anywhere else. I will definitely have to check out her shop next paycheck.
